Lady Pirates of the Caribbean (Play)

Age Level: Middle Grades to High School
Cast: 13F, 8M, 1 optional
Time: 60 minutes

A chest of gold doubloons sent by the Queen to care for orphaned children has been stolen. To save the orphans from starvation Sister Benedict seeks the help of Esmeralda, the captain of the pirates known as the Lawless Ladies. Once an orphan herself, Esmeralda promises to recover the gold. The Lawless Ladies go to Parrot Isle disguised as a shipwrecked theatrical troupe. Esmeralda suspects that Governor Don Juan Futon and his niece Lucretia are impostors, but she has no proof. Wary Lucretia proclaims that the theatrical troupe are spies. Esmeralda and her Lawless Ladies are condemned to walk the plank, but Esmeralda tricks Lucretia and the fake governor and exposes their evil doing. A classic sword fight is the climax to this swashbuckling pirate play. The Queen’s gold is recovered and the orphans are saved. Lots of laughs. Delightful character roles. Great fun for everyone.
