Perspectives

By Mary Krell-Oishi

Cover of Perspectives This book of 23 scenes deals with challenging subject matter in five categories:  dating, pregnancy, control, family and growing up.  Because the characters are not stereotypical, student actors are required to stretch and reach beyond each characterization.  The scenes offer a wide variety of styles and an equal distribution of roles between men and women.  They may be used as audition pieces, festival entries or as discussion ignitors for interaction between the actors and the audience.  Some of the titles include At the Party, Power Trip, Out of Control, and Part of the Crowd.  The Educational Theatre Association says, “Perspectives is a gold mine of theatrical literature for high school and college-age actors.”
