The Clods of Hopper

Age Level: Middle Grades to High School
Cast: 12F, 8M, optional extras
Time: 90 minutes, 2 acts

Now meet America’s real first family. This hilarious satire lampooning the popular "family dramas" of television begins when a young writer is hired to record the thrilling saga of the Clod family. The Clods awoke one morning to find their dusty ranchland bursting with oil, gold, uranium and mineral deposits -- enough wealth to make the Clods the richest and most powerful family in the town of Hopper, famed for its chocolate-flavored Tabasco sauce. There’s an uproarious parade of flaky characters, including Big Poppa Clod, Big Momma Clod and a circus of scheming relatives who do all the dastardly deeds. Laughter goes into high gear with a kidnapping, a possible murder, a lost wife, a forgotten brother and a stock market collapse.
