Beginner’s Luck

Age Level: All Ages
Cast: 12F, 7M
Time: About 90 minutes, 2 acts, 1 set

When her family’s finances fade, Libby Crenshaw writes a "bestseller," but no publisher will read the manuscript. Then she learns about a wealthy publisher’s dinner party for his A-list writers and gets hired as a caterer. But Percival Pettiman has a surprise for his writers. He’s outsourcing their jobs to China. Is it any surprise that he’s found dead at dinner? The shocked writers include mystery maven Agatha Bagatelle, how-to guru Handy Randy, romance queen Penny Trueheart and more. But who poisoned Pettiman? Police Chief Lucy Luckless and her deputy, Jay Edgar Lugar, show up and arrest the accountant suspected of embezzlement. But Libby knows better. She opens her book to the section on how to be a private eye, unravels the mystery and finds the killer. Lots of fun characters. Easy to stage with only one set.
