Rebecca  Young

Rebecca North Young has written four books of monologues and one book of ten-minute scenes with a sequel its on the way. Regarding her inspiration for the 300+ monologues so far, she says, “I have three girls, two of which are still teenagers, one just barely out of that age range. It’s all about comedy and tragedy around my house. Believe me, there’s not much else in between.” Friends and family (she won’t dare say who), television, and just a plain old overactive imagination help Rebecca create a wide array of monologues to choose from.

When she’s not writing monologues, Rebecca writes and directs drama for middle and high school students at her church. She co-founded a group called One Voice who travels annually to perform at various churches. It is a great passion of hers to combine writing and working with youth.

Rebecca currently works in a totally “non-dramatic” profession as a technical trainer in Lexington, Kentucky. She has a BA in Communications/Marketing from the University of Kentucky.

Ms. Young lives with her husband (Frank), three wonderful and dramatic daughters (Heather, Kristina, and Ashley), and two cats (who have names but are more often than not called Orange Kitty and Gray Kitty.)

Whether you are an actor or a writer, she suggests this quote as a daily mantra: “You aren’t finished when you lose; you are finished when you quit.”

Never give up hope.
